Authorities in the Atlanta metropolitan area have charged 26-year-old Olaolukitan Adon-Abel with malice murder following a series of violent attacks on April 13, 2026. The suspect, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from the United Kingdom, is accused of a random killing spree that resulted in the deaths of two women and the critical injury of a third individual.
One of the victims has been identified as 40-year-old Lauren Bullis, an auditor for the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office of Inspector General. Bullis was reportedly walking her dog on Battle Forest Drive when she was shot and stabbed. Her dog, Sancho, remains missing. Earlier that morning, the suspect allegedly shot 31-year-old Prianna Weathers outside a restaurant in DeKalb County and critically wounded a 49-year-old man who was sleeping outside a grocery store in Brookhaven.
Adon-Abel’s background has come under intense scrutiny following the attacks. Records indicate he became a naturalized citizen in 2022 but maintained a significant criminal history prior to and after his naturalization. His past offenses include sexual battery, assault with a deadly weapon, and battery on a police officer across multiple states, including California and Georgia. In 2025, he served jail time in Savannah for groping several women and was sentenced to probation and mental health treatment.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin described the incidents as "acts of pure evil," highlighting the suspect's extensive prior record. The case has prompted renewed debate regarding the naturalization process and the criteria for "good moral character" required for citizenship.
Adon-Abel was apprehended shortly after the final attack. He waived his first court appearance and remains in custody without bond. He faces multiple counts of murder, aggravated assault, and various firearm violations. If convicted, he faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment. The community continues to mourn Bullis, who was remembered by colleagues as a dedicated public servant and compassionate individual.
