A driver was killed in a single vehicle crash early Friday morning on the northbound 23 Freeway in Moorpark.
The California Highway Patrol and emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 1:14 a.m. near the Tierra Rejada Road off ramp.
Upon arrival Ventura County Fire Department crews discovered a single vehicle that had sustained heavy damage on the driver side.
One person inside the vehicle was found unresponsive and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations by the CHP indicate that no other occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and details regarding what led up to the impact have not yet been determined.
The identity of the deceased driver has not been released pending the notification of next of kin.
