A major criminal operation involving grand theft, illegal firearms, and identity theft has been dismantled following a week-long investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. Four suspects are behind bars after detectives linked a "sleeping suspect" in a parked car to a wider conspiracy operating out of a Fillmore apartment.
The dominoes began to fall on April 10, 2026, when Fillmore deputies found Teresa Macias, 46, asleep in a vehicle on private property. A search of the car allegedly uncovered drugs, identity theft tools, and thousands of dollars in stolen property. Macias was immediately taken into custody, sparking a deeper probe into where the loot came from.
The Fillmore Connection Detectives quickly identified Alejandro Silva, 41, as a co-conspirator. Silva, who was already on Post Release Offender Supervision (PROS) for previous identity theft convictions, became the primary target. After towing his vehicle as evidence on April 12, deputies caught up with Silva two days later, booking him for conspiracy and grand theft.
The investigation reached a boiling point on April 17, 2026, when the Fillmore Detective Unit and the Moorpark Special Enforcement Unit stormed an apartment in the 200 block of Santa Clara Street.
Guns, Drugs, and "Gangsters" Inside the residence, detectives hit a criminal jackpot. They arrested Ricardo Magana, 42, who was hiding out with an active felony warrant.
A sweep of the apartment turned up:
- - Illegal assault rifles and ammunition.
- - Unlawfully possessed handguns.
- - A massive cache of additional stolen property and identity theft evidence.
- - Suspected illegal narcotics.
The apartment’s renter, Nancy Mendez, 40, was also arrested on the spot. She faces multiple felony counts for possession of assault weapons and unlawful firearm transfers. All four suspects have been booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility as prosecutors prepare to bring the hammer down.
