A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Singapore for allegedly accessing a media server and leaking footage from the highly anticipated animated film Aang: The Last Airbender. The arrest, confirmed by Singapore police on April 24, 2026, follows a massive online leak that occurred earlier this month, where significant portions of the movie appeared on social media platforms and message boards like 4chan.
Authorities allege that the suspect gained unauthorized remote access to a content server to download the unreleased film before distributing it online. During the investigation, police recovered electronic devices from the suspect that contained a digital copy of the movie.
While initial social media posts by the leaker claimed that Nickelodeon had "accidentally emailed" the entire film to them, Paramount’s investigation determined that the breach did not originate from within the studio's internal systems, suggesting a targeted external hack.
The leak has caused significant turmoil within the animation community and the Avatar fandom. Animators who worked on the project for years described the leak as "disrespectful," particularly as the film had recently been shifted from a theatrical release to an exclusive October 9, 2026, debut on Paramount+.
Voice actors from the original series have urged fans to avoid the leaked material to protect the integrity of the upcoming release.
Under Singapore’s Computer Misuse Act, the charges for unauthorized access to computer material are severe. If convicted, the man faces a maximum jail term of seven years, a fine of up to $50,000, or both.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine the full extent of the digital breach and whether others were involved in the distribution of the stolen media.
