Black Lives Matter rose like a rocket in 2020 following the death of George Floyd.

The organization raised over 90 million dollars in donations in a single year as co founders Patrisse Cullors Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi became global celebrities.

Corporations knelt cities painted streets and billions were pledged in the name of racial justice.

Six years later in 2026 the main organization known as the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation is a shell of what it once was.

The group is currently struggling financially and facing serious legal trouble as assets have reportedly dwindled to just 28 million dollars.

Millions were spent on high priced consultants security contracts tied to the founders’ families and a controversial 6 million dollar luxury property in Los Angeles.

Local BLM chapters have repeatedly complained that they received almost nothing from the national foundation while the Justice Department is now investigating the group for possible donor fraud.

The movement began to collapse under its own weight between 2022 and 2024 due to financial scandals and a massive lack of transparency.

Corporate support and public donations dried up long before the political landscape shifted in Washington.

When Donald Trump took office in January 2025 he immediately signed executive orders banning Diversity Equity and Inclusion programs in the federal government.

He also began a crackdown on race based initiatives in corporations and universities which cut off the remaining pipelines of easy corporate and government money.

The combination of internal corruption and the removal of financial oxygen delivered a final blow to the organization's influence.

Today in 2026 large BLM protests are rare and corporate America has largely moved on to other priorities.
