Two men from Central California are behind bars today after Thousand Oaks deputies caught them red-handed with a trunk full of stolen tires and rims.
The bust occurred just after midnight on Sunday, April 19, 2026, following a proactive investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received a tip regarding a suspicious vehicle that matched the description of a car linked to a string of recent residential burglaries and vehicle thefts in the area.
Law enforcement flooded the neighborhood, quickly spotted the vehicle, and conducted a high-risk traffic stop.
Upon searching the car, deputies discovered a significant quantity of stolen wheels and tires, along with a specialized stash of burglary tools used to strip vehicles quickly.
Both suspects were immediately taken into custody and booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
They are facing multiple felony charges, including grand theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possession of stolen property.
Investigators believe the pair may be responsible for a wider theft ring and are currently working to identify additional victims in the Conejo Valley and surrounding areas.
Residents are being reminded to secure their vehicles and report any suspicious activity late at night to the Thousand Oaks Police Department.
The recovery of these items is a major win for local patrol services, who have been tracking a recent spike in luxury tire and rim thefts across the county.
