Heading to the Fair this summer? Leave the oversized backpack at home. The Ventura County Fairgrounds has officially announced a strict new Clear Bag Policy for the 2026 season, running from July 29 through August 9.

In a major shift for guest safety, all bags must now be fully transparent—meaning clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC only. While small clutches and medically necessary bags are still allowed after inspection, tinted or printed bags are officially banned. If your bag doesn't meet the new 12" x 6" x 12" size limit, security will send you back to your car before you can even smell the funnel cake.

THE BREAKDOWN

  • APPROVED: Clear bags under 12x6x12, one-gallon freezer bags, clear fanny packs, and small clutches (5"x8").
  • HYDRATION: Empty reusable metal flasks (like Hydro Flasks) are okay, but they must be bone-dry at the gate.
  • PROHIBITED: Standard backpacks, tinted bags, mesh bags, camera cases, and oversized totes.
