Chavez is currently out of custody after posting a $250,000 bond, and while protesters chanted on the sidewalk, he was likely tucked away in a side room with his legal team.
Many supporters were hoping for a major breakthrough or a "guilty" plea, but an Early Disposition Conference is essentially a standard legal phase where both sides trade evidence and discuss potential deals.
The case wasn't "pushed back" for no reason, it is moving toward the Preliminary Hearing, which is now officially set for May 19, 2026.
