Pop icon Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into a substance abuse treatment facility this week, following a highly publicized DUI arrest in Ventura County.

The move comes roughly a month after a frightening incident on March 5, 2026, when California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a BMW driving "fast and erratically" on the U.S. 101 near the Los Angeles County line. After failing field sobriety tests at the scene, the 44-year-old singer was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs.

In a rare move, Spears’ own representatives didn't mince words, calling the incident "completely inexcusable" and expressing hope that this would be the "first step in long overdue change."
