Atlanta Man Arrested After Deadly Multi-City Shooting Spree Leaves Two Women Dead

A 26-year-old Atlanta man is in custody after authorities say he carried out a violent series of shootings across metro Atlanta that left two women dead and a third victim critically injured.
Olaolukitan Adon Abel was arrested after police linked him to multiple early-morning attacks spanning DeKalb County and Brookhaven, Georgia.
Investigators say the violence unfolded over several hours on April 13, 2026, beginning just after midnight and continuing into the morning. In total, authorities believe there were at least three separate shooting scenes.
The first reported attack happened outside a Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road, where a woman was found with multiple gunshot wounds. She later died at the hospital.
A second incident involved a 49-year-old man who was reportedly sleeping outside a shopping center when he was shot multiple times. He survived but remains in critical condition.
Hours later, police responded to a third scene on Battle Forest Drive, where a 40-year-old woman was found suffering from both gunshot and stab wounds. She was pronounced dead.
Authorities say the suspect was tracked using FLOCK license plate cameras, which helped investigators follow his silver Volkswagen Jetta across county lines. He was eventually arrested during a felony traffic stop in Troup County.
Police have charged Abel with multiple counts including malice murder and aggravated assault. Investigators say the attacks appear to have been random, though the motive remains under investigation.
Officials also noted that Abel had a prior arrest in 2025 involving misdemeanor charges and had been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Despite that history, law enforcement said there was no confirmed connection between the suspect and the victims.
Community members described the scenes as chaotic and shocking, especially as details emerged that the victims appeared to be strangers targeted in unrelated locations.
Authorities continue to investigate whether any additional incidents may be linked to the same suspect.
