A truck driver in northwest China’s Xinjiang region has been fined by traffic authorities after his wife secretly attached herself to the back of his vehicle to investigate suspicions of marital infidelity.

The incident occurred in Bachu County in late March and gained widespread attention after footage of the dangerous maneuver began circulating on social media platforms.

Local police reportedly intercepted the small truck after observing a woman hanging precariously from the exterior of the trailer without any safety equipment or harnesses.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered the woman was the wife of the driver, identified only by his surname, Yu.

The woman confessed to law enforcement that she had been monitoring her husband’s movements due to her belief that he was involved in an extramarital affair.

She reportedly climbed onto the rear of the cargo compartment as he was preparing to leave their home, intending to follow him to his destination in secret.

Mr. Yu expressed surprise at his wife’s presence, maintaining that he was completely unaware she had hitched a ride on the outside of the truck.

Despite his claims of ignorance, the Bachu County public security bureau issued a fine of 200 yuan, approximately 30 U.S. dollars, to the driver.

Authorities also deducted three points from his commercial driver’s license for negligence and failing to ensure the safety of his vehicle before departure.

Police officials emphasized that drivers are legally obligated to inspect their vehicles and the surrounding environment for hazards before starting the engine.

The wife received a formal warning regarding the life-threatening risks associated with her actions on public roadways.

No evidence regarding the alleged infidelity has been released by local investigators, who characterized the event as a domestic dispute that endangered public safety.

This case has sparked a significant debate across social media regarding the lengths individuals go to in marital conflicts and the enforcement of traffic laws.

Regional authorities have urged citizens to resolve personal disagreements through safe channels rather than resorting to hazardous stunts.
