Rock icon Lindsey Buckingham faced a terrifying security breach on Wednesday after being ambushed by a woman described as a long-term stalking suspect.
The 76-year-old Fleetwood Mac guitarist was arriving for an appointment in Santa Monica when the assailant doused him in an unidentified substance before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement sources, including the LAPD and Santa Monica Police Department, confirmed that the woman appeared to have tracked Buckingham’s schedule to intercept him.
While the substance thrown at the "Rumours" architect was not immediately identified, authorities delivered a sigh of relief confirming that Buckingham was not injured in the assault.
The musician has been embroiled in a disturbing legal battle with a woman named Michelle since 2021.
Court documents from a December 2024 hearing detail a chilling pattern of harassment, including "drawn-out" death threats against Buckingham and his family, and a bizarre claim that she was his biological child.
Most recently, Buckingham testified that a fraudulent 911 call traced to the stalker led to police swarming his home and handcuffing him after false reports of gunshots.
While police have identified a suspect in Wednesday's "dousing" attack, an arrest is still pending.
The incident casts a shadow over what was supposed to be a celebratory year for the rock star, who recently teased a potential reunion with Stevie Nicks and an upcoming official Fleetwood Mac documentary.
