Florida Governor Candidate James Fishback Tells Black Man He Should Be Lynched After Asked To Stop Talking To Young Girls

A volatile confrontation between Florida gubernatorial candidate James Fishback and an unidentified Black man has gone viral, drawing widespread condemnation for Fishback’s use of racially charged language.
The video, which surfaced on social media on April 2, 2026, shows a heated exchange in which Fishback repeatedly tells the man he "should be lynched" after being confronted about past allegations.
The dispute began when the man approached Fishback to question him about historical accusations of "grooming" and relationships with underage girls—claims that have followed Fishback’s campaign since his time running a high school debate league.
When the man used graphic language to describe the alleged behavior, Fishback became visibly incensed.
After Fishback asked why he hadn't been arrested if the claims were true, the man replied that he didn't know. Fishback then retorted, "You should be lynched... for lying about me like that."
James Fishback, a 30-year-old hedge fund manager and political newcomer, has centered his campaign on a provocative "America First" and "Christian Nationalist" platform.
He has frequently been associated with the "Groyper" movement and has used inflammatory rhetoric throughout his run, including calling his primary opponent, Congressman Byron Donalds, a "slave" to donors and making derogatory comments about Section 8 housing.
While Fishback’s supporters have defended the remarks as a hyperbolic reaction to "libelous" accusations, political opponents from both parties have called for him to drop out of the race.
Florida’s history with racial violence makes the use of the term "lynching" particularly explosive, and civil rights groups have pointed to the comments as further evidence of what they describe as Fishback’s white nationalist leanings.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has not announced any criminal investigation into the exchange, as the comments are currently viewed as protected, albeit controversial, political speech.
However, the incident has further sidelined Fishback’s campaign, which was already struggling with low fundraising totals and a recent ban from all Waffle House locations in the state following a series of disruptive campaign stops.
