A former middle school teacher in Oviedo is in custody following a lengthy investigation into allegations involving a thirteen-year-old student. Daniel Philip Le Lievre, 41, was arrested at his home on March 30, 2026, and is currently being held without bond in the Seminole County Jail.

The investigation into Le Lievre, who previously taught at Tuskawilla Middle School, reveals a complex series of events that reportedly began in late 2023. Authorities allege that Le Lievre specifically entered into a brief romantic relationship with the child's mother as a way to gain consistent access to the student. During this time, the mother and her children frequently stayed at his residence.

According to police reports, Le Lievre utilized highly unconventional methods to maintain private contact with the student. This included teaching her Morse code for secret messaging, creating throwaway email accounts, and setting up private websites to bypass parental and school oversight. Furthermore, school records indicate he used his position to alter the student’s class schedule without the mother’s consent to ensure the girl spent more time in his classroom.

Seminole County Public Schools officials confirmed that Le Lievre was initially placed on administrative leave in April 2024 after preliminary reports of inappropriate behavior surfaced. He later resigned in lieu of termination and was barred from returning to the district. The criminal investigation continued for nearly two years before leading to the specific charges filed this week.

The legal proceedings are now moving forward as investigators look into the full timeline of Le Lievre's interactions with the student. School district representatives emphasized that student safety remains their highest priority and that they are cooperating fully with the Oviedo Police Department as the case transitions to the court system.
