Iran Media Offers Cash Reward After Claims US Fighter Jet Pilot Went Down

Tensions between the United States and Iran just took another dramatic turn after Iranian media reports claimed a US fighter jet pilot may have been captured following an alleged crash of an advanced stealth aircraft.

According to reports from Iran’s semi official Tasnim News Agency, a US pilot ejected from a downed Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II after it was reportedly struck over western Iran. The claims have not been confirmed by the US military.

Adding to the drama, Iranian television reportedly announced a reward of about Rs 56 lakh (roughly $67,000 USD) for anyone who captures the pilot alive. The announcement quickly spread online, fueling concern as crowds were reportedly seen heading toward the alleged crash area.

State broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting claimed civilians began gathering near the reported crash site, with some attempting to locate the pilot themselves. At the same time, Iranian military officials urged citizens not to harm any captured personnel.

Iran’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was also mentioned in reports suggesting the pilot could already be in military custody. These claims remain unverified and no independent confirmation has emerged.

Separate reports from Iranian outlet Press TV claimed a second F-35 may also have been shot down by a newly deployed Iranian air defense system. One spokesperson suggested the second aircraft was destroyed on impact and the pilot likely did not survive. Again, no US confirmation exists.

So far, the United States Department of Defense has not publicly confirmed any lost aircraft or captured personnel connected to these reports.

If confirmed, the incident would mark a major escalation in the already tense conflict environment between the two nations. The F-35 is considered one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world, and any loss or capture involving its pilot would immediately become a major geopolitical story.

Military analysts warn information warfare is also a factor. During active conflicts, early claims from state media often emerge before verification, meaning facts can shift quickly as official statements arrive.

For now, the situation remains a developing story filled with claims, counterclaims, and unanswered questions.

What is clear is this: if a US pilot were confirmed captured, it would instantly become one of the most sensitive flashpoints in the ongoing conflict.
