Jimmy Kimmel Calls Out Melania Trump After Claiming She's Never Been Friends With Epstein

A surprise public address by First Lady Melania Trump has reignited one of the most persistent controversies surrounding the Trump family’s social history.

On April 9, 2026, Melania held a press conference at the White House, reportedly blindsiding the President, to categorically deny any personal friendship or involvement with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“I have never had any knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of his victims,” the First Lady told reporters.

“I was never a participant, was never on Epstein’s plane, and never visited his private island.”

She attributed their public appearances together to the common "overlapping in social circles" of New York and Palm Beach.

Kimmel Calls "B.S."

The denial didn't sit well with Jimmy Kimmel.

During his Thursday night monologue, the Jimmy Kimmel Live host aired the infamous, widely-circulated photograph of Donald and Melania Trump posing with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

“By the way, while you’re explaining how much you didn’t know Epstein,” Kimmel quipped, “any particular reason you can think of that he had a picture of you guys on display at his house? Maybe this is the photo that came with the frame, I don’t know.”

A House Divided?

The timing of the address raised eyebrows across Washington.

President Donald Trump told MS Now shortly after the speech that he was unaware his wife was planning to make the statement.

Kimmel seized on the lack of coordination, joking, “He didn’t know she was going to do it... which shows you just how smoothly things are running over there.”

This latest clash comes as Kimmel has intensified his criticism of the First Lady following the January release of the Amazon documentary Melania, which the host previously labeled a "$75 million bribe" and "dreadfully dull."

As the House Oversight Committee continues its investigation into the "Epstein Files" and former AG Pam Bondi’s handling of the case, Melania’s decision to distance herself from the scandal marks a significant, if uncoordinated, shift in the administration's public relations strategy.
