Keith Morrison Attends Sentencing of 'Ketamine Queen' in Matthew Perry Case

Keith Morrison arrived at the federal courthouse in Los Angeles on Wednesday for the sentencing of Jasveen Sangha. Sangha, known as the 'Ketamine Queen,' faces judgment following the 2023 death of Morrison’s stepson, Matthew Perry.
Morrison, the veteran 'Dateline' correspondent, entered the facility surrounded by family members. He remained silent as reporters sought comment regarding the expected outcome of the proceedings and the family's quest for accountability.
The hearing is the culmination of a multi-agency federal investigation into an underground drug distribution network. Prosecutors allege Sangha’s operation provided the lethal dose of ketamine that led to Perry’s passing at his home.
Perry was found deceased in his hot tub in October 2023. An autopsy later determined that the actor died from acute effects of ketamine, with drowning and coronary artery disease listed as contributing factors.
The Department of Justice, overseen by the administration of President Donald Trump, has prioritized the prosecution of high-level drug distributors. This case has served as a centerpiece for federal efforts to combat illegal pharmaceutical sales.
Evidence from the trial detailed Sangha’s alleged operation of a North Hollywood 'stash house.' Federal agents reported finding significant quantities of ketamine and other controlled substances at the location during their initial investigation.
Court documents revealed that Sangha and her associates exchanged messages regarding the risks of their business. Some communications specifically addressed the media coverage of Perry’s death and the potential for increased police activity.
Several other individuals were charged in the conspiracy, including Perry’s live-in assistant and two physicians. While some have entered plea agreements, Sangha remained a primary target for the harshest possible sentencing recommendations.
Legal analysts suggest that the sentence handed down today will likely reflect the government’s desire for deterrence. The case highlights the growing intersection between the entertainment industry and unregulated drug markets in Southern California.
Judge Mark C. Scarsi is presiding over the sentencing today. A formal ruling on the duration of Sangha’s prison term is expected to be delivered by the court before the end of the afternoon session.
