Michigan Man Charged After FBI Finds Thousands Of Illegal Files In Investigation

A 26-year-old man from Dearborn, Michigan is facing serious federal charges following an investigation involving alleged illegal digital material.
Ali El Sayi was identified during an undercover operation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which tracked online activity linked to suspected child sexual abuse material back to a residential IP address.
According to authorities, agents executed a search warrant at the residence and reported finding more than 35,000 files connected to the case. Investigators say the files included both active and deleted content recovered during forensic analysis.
During the investigation, El Sayi allegedly told agents he had been using file-sharing networks to download movies. However, officials state that the evidence collected did not support that explanation.
The case highlights how federal investigators monitor and trace digital footprints tied to illegal file distribution networks. Law enforcement agencies often use undercover techniques to identify users sharing or downloading prohibited material, with IP tracking serving as a key method in building cases.
El Sayi is now facing federal charges related to possession and distribution of illegal content involving minors. Court records indicate he has not been convicted, and the case will proceed through the legal system.
A judge has ordered that he remain under home detention with GPS monitoring as the case moves forward.
Officials have not released additional details about the scope of the investigation or whether more individuals may be involved.
