Missouri Murder Suspect Held on Immigration Detainer After 15-Year-Old Ambushed

Yefry Archaga, an 18-year-old murder suspect, remains in custody at the Greene County Jail under a federal immigration hold following the shooting death of a 15-year-old Missouri boy.
Prosecutors allege Archaga and 18-year-old Praize King orchestrated a premeditated ambush on March 12 that resulted in the death of Miles Young in Springfield.
According to court documents, the victim believed he was traveling to a meetup with a girl. Instead, investigators say he was led into a coordinated trap involving multiple vehicles and individuals.
Witnesses told investigators that a juvenile associate picked up Young and drove him to a residential location despite warnings from peers that the encounter might be a setup.
Upon arrival, two vehicles, including a black Mercedes, were used to track and surround the teenager. When the cars stopped, Young reportedly attempted to flee the scene on foot.
A witness statement describes a suspect wearing a black ski mask and armed with a Glock-style handgun chasing the victim. The suspect was later identified by authorities as Archaga.
During the pursuit, the 15-year-old was heard crying out, "I just don’t wanna die." He was shot in the chest and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigators believe the killing may be connected to a prior dispute. Documents indicate Young was expected to testify in a separate 2025 homicide case before he was targeted.
Archaga was arrested in Webb City on March 31 following a two-week search by law enforcement. He is scheduled for a court appearance on April 13.
King also faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. At least one other juvenile suspect involved in the incident has not been publicly identified.
The Young family described Miles as a compassionate and loving teenager who brought light to those around him. They are currently seeking community support as the investigation into the coordinated attack continues.
