Mother And Son Arrested At Miami Airport After Fatal New Jersey Street Racing Crash And Escape Attempt

A Staten Island mother and her 20-year-old son are back in New Jersey to face the music after a high-stakes attempt to flee the country.

Alvi Limani, 20, and his mother, Vilma Vneshta, 42, were captured by law enforcement near Miami on July 17, ending a weeks-long manhunt following a fatal high-speed crash.

The tragedy unfolded on June 29 on the Garden State Parkway.

Prosecutors allege Limani was recklessly racing a BMW M5 when his SUV clipped two vehicles and rolled multiple times.

The crash was devastating: two passengers were ejected from Limani's vehicle, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Albion Hysenaj.

Rather than face the consequences, the mother and son duo allegedly trekked down to Florida in an attempt to leave the U.S. entirely.

Their flight ended in handcuffs, and TikTok footage recently surfaced showing the pair being led off a plane in leg shackles after being extradited back to the tristate area last Wednesday.

Limani appeared in booking photos sporting a neck brace and a battered eye, facing heavy charges including first-degree aggravated manslaughter and causing death while driving on a suspended license.

His mother, Vneshta, has been charged with third-degree hindering for her alleged role in the escape attempt.

Both are currently being held at the Middlesex County Correctional Facility awaiting detention hearings.

Meanwhile, the other driver involved in the race, 23-year-old Jeter Ogando, is also facing vehicular homicide charges as the legal fallout from the deadly "rubber burning" session continues.
