Newly released footage from Tiger Woods’ March 27, 2026, DUI arrest in Florida appears to confirm the initial reports of his impairment following a high-speed rollover crash on Jupiter Island. The video, taken from inside a Martin County Sheriff’s patrol car, shows the fifteen-time major champion struggling to stay awake and battling a persistent case of the hiccups while being questioned by deputies.
The footage aligns with the arrest affidavit, which noted that Woods displayed several signs of being under the influence, including slow and lethargic movements, bloodshot eyes, and dilated pupils. During the roadside interaction, deputies reported that Woods was sweating and appeared disoriented, at one point needing to be reminded multiple times to keep his head straight during a sobriety test.
While a breathalyzer test showed a 0.00% blood alcohol level, investigators found two white pills in Woods’ pocket, later identified as the opioid painkiller hydrocodone. Both drowsiness and hiccups are documented side effects of hydrocodone and other similar medications. Woods reportedly told officers at the scene, "I take a few," when asked about prescription drug use, citing his history of over twenty leg operations and seven back surgeries.
The crash occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. when Woods’ Land Rover clipped a pickup truck while attempting to pass it at a high speed, causing his SUV to flip onto its side. Although Woods was able to crawl out of the vehicle uninjured, his refusal to submit to a urine test at the station led to an additional charge.
Woods has officially entered a plea of not guilty to charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. His next court appearance is scheduled for an arraignment on April 23, 2026. This latest incident has reignited concerns regarding his long-term recovery and his ongoing role within the PGA Tour's leadership committee.
