The New York Police Department has taken a 38-year-old man into custody following a brutal home invasion and sexual assault in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Jakhongir Sattorov was arrested on Saturday after allegedly targeting a 59-year-old woman who lived in his building.
Authorities report that the incident occurred on Friday evening at an apartment complex located near 15th Avenue and 71st Street.
The suspect allegedly forced his way through the victim's front door at approximately 8:30 p.m. after demanding sexual favors.
When the victim refused his demands, the suspect reportedly initiated a violent physical attack.
Police state that the assailant beat the woman and obstructed her breathing during the course of the sexual assault.
The victim managed to contact the NYPD later that evening to report the harrowing ordeal.
Emergency responders transported her to Lutheran Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and listed in stable condition.
