Pasadena Humane Seeks Donations For Dog With No Nose's Recovery

Pasadena Humane is issuing an urgent plea for help after rescuing its most "heartrending" newcomer yet: a tiny puppy named Peanut.
The young survivor arrived at the shelter in critical condition, suffering from a dislocated jaw and a traumatic injury that left him missing the majority of his nose.
Despite the "heartbreaking" shape he was in, shelter staff say Peanut’s courage is already making him a local hero.
Because he has too little skin to close the facial wound surgically, Peanut's nose must heal "from the inside out" over the next several weeks.
He currently wears a custom tiny stent to keep his nostrils open and ensure he can breathe as his tissue slowly mends.
The road to recovery will be long and expensive.
To ensure Peanut, and other animals facing medical emergencies, gets a second chance, Pasadena Humane has activated its Miracle Medical Fund.
In a massive boost for the campaign, Fetch Pet Insurance has stepped up to match every donation dollar-for-dollar, up to $7,500.
While over $500 has been raised in the initial hours of the appeal, Peanut’s specialized veterinary care and potential future airway surgeries mean the goal is still far off.
Supporters are being encouraged to follow "Peanut’s Journey" on social media, where the shelter provides daily updates on the pup who is literally fighting for every breath.
