Police Affidavit Reveals New Details in Tiger Woods DUI Arrest

Authorities in Martin County, Florida, released a detailed arrest affidavit on Tuesday morning concerning the Friday afternoon crash and subsequent arrest of professional golfer Tiger Woods. The document provides the first official law enforcement account of the incident that occurred on March 27.

According to the affidavit, Woods was operating a black Land Rover SUV when he attempted to pass a Ford F-150 towing a trailer. The SUV reportedly crossed double solid lines and struck the trailer, causing the Land Rover to flip onto its side. While neither driver reported injuries, the collision resulted in approximately $5,000 in property damage.

Deputies arriving at the scene observed that Woods appeared lethargic, sweaty, and unsteady on his feet. The reporting officer noted that the golfer’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and his pupils remained extremely dilated even after he removed his sunglasses.

During the initial investigation, Woods reportedly told deputies he had been distracted by his cellphone and was attempting to adjust the radio station. He stated he did not notice the vehicle ahead of him slowing down to make a turn until it was too late to avoid impact.

The affidavit further reveals that a search of Woods’ person resulted in the discovery of two white pills identified as hydrocodone in his left pant pocket. Woods informed officers that he takes several prescription medications due to significant ongoing medical issues and past surgeries.

While a breathalyzer test administered at the jail returned a 0.000 blood-alcohol content, Woods allegedly refused to submit to a urine test for drug screening. Consequently, he has been charged with driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to lawful testing.

President Donald Trump, who has frequently hosted Woods at the White House and on the golf course, commented on the incident earlier today. The President described Woods as a "very close friend" and expressed concern over the situation following the release of the police records.

Woods was released from custody following his processing and is expected to appear in a Martin County court next month. Legal representatives for the 15-time major champion have not yet released a formal response to the specific details contained within the affidavit.
