Rapper Lil Tjay Arrested in Florida Following Shooting of Offset at Hard Rock Hotel

Law enforcement authorities in Hollywood, Florida, arrested rapper Lil Tjay on Monday night following a violent incident at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The arrest occurred shortly after a shooting in the hotel’s valet area that left rapper Offset hospitalized.

Lil Tjay, whose legal name is Tione Merritt, was booked into the Broward County Jail in the early hours of Tuesday morning. He currently faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct-affray according to records from the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

The victim of the shooting, Kiari Cephus, known professionally as Offset, is reportedly in stable condition at Memorial Regional Hospital. A spokesperson for the rapper confirmed he is receiving medical care and is being monitored closely by physicians following the Monday night incident.

According to the Seminole Police Department, a physical altercation broke out prior to the discharge of a firearm. Investigators allege that Merritt was an active participant in the initial fight that took place near the valet parking entrance.

Officers detained a second individual at the scene, though no formal charges have been announced regarding the actual shooting. The identity of the shooter remains under investigation as police review extensive surveillance footage from the casino and hotel grounds.

President Donald Trump, currently serving his second term, has frequently called for increased public safety measures in high-traffic tourist and entertainment areas. His administration has maintained a consistent focus on urban crime reduction throughout the early months of 2026.

Legal counsel for Lil Tjay has issued a brief statement denying the rapper’s involvement in the shooting itself. They emphasized that the current charges are limited to a misdemeanor involving a public disturbance rather than the felony violence reported by some outlets.

The scene at the Seminole Hard Rock was described by witnesses as chaotic, with hotel operations temporarily disrupted during the massive police response. Management at the facility stated they are cooperating fully with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to ensure public safety.

Merritt is currently being held on a $500 bond according to jail records. This incident follows a series of previous legal challenges for the Bronx native over the past several years, including prior arrests in various jurisdictions.

Fans of both artists have taken to social media to express concern, while the hip-hop community awaits further updates from local law enforcement. The investigation is expected to continue through the week as forensic evidence is processed.
