Authorities arrested six teenagers following a shooting incident during a party in the Nyeland Acres neighborhood of Oxnard late last month. No injuries were reported, but deputies say a high-powered rifle was used to fire multiple rounds at a crowd.
š Incident Details
On November 25 at around 11:15 p.m., deputies responded to a call about gunshots on the 3600 block of Orange Drive. Upon arrival, they located evidence of a shooting and quickly received information about a suspect vehicle seen fleeing the scene.
The vehicle, found in Camarillo, was occupied by five juveniles and one adult. During a search, deputies discovered a loaded high-powered rifle believed to have been used in the shooting.
šØ Suspects and Charges
The adult suspect was identified as 18-year-old Martin Maidaa of Camarillo. The remaining suspects are juveniles aged 16 to 17, from Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Authorities determined that one of the juveniles fired the rifle at a group during the party.
Detectives served search warrants and found additional evidence connecting Maidaa and one of the juveniles to the shooting. Maidaa and four of the juveniles were arrested for being accessories after the fact and were later released or booked. One juvenile remains in custody, facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, and multiple firearms violations.
