Teen sentenced to 25 years for Maryland school bus attempted murder

A Maryland teenager has been sentenced to decades in prison after pleading guilty to the attempted murder of a 14-year-old student during a violent attack on a school bus.
Kaeden Holland, also known as “Baby K,” received a 60-year sentence with all but 25 years suspended after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree murder and firearms charges, according to prosecutors in Prince George's County.
Authorities say the May 2023 attack happened on a school bus in Oxon Hill, where investigators say Holland pointed a handgun at the victim and pulled the trigger multiple times, but the weapon malfunctioned each time.
Prosecutors said the assault, which was captured on school bus surveillance video, also involved physical violence and threats before the suspects fled the scene. The victim survived with minor physical injuries, according to officials.
Because of the seriousness of the charges, Holland — who was 15 at the time — was prosecuted as an adult. Two other teens charged in connection with the incident were also reportedly transferred to adult court.
Aisha Braveboy, the county’s state’s attorney, said the sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense and the long-term impact on those involved.
Officials say the case highlights ongoing concerns around school safety and youth violence, particularly incidents involving firearms on school transportation.
