Looking for a classic Ventura way to celebrate Mom? The annual Murals & Roses exhibit is returning to the Olivas Adobe Historical Park this Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2026. This local favorite offers a blend of art, history, and spring blooms, and best of all, it’s completely FREE.

The event showcases the historic Ray & Jessie Monk Volunteer Rose Garden at its seasonal peak, alongside a rare public display of the Marguerite Hardeman murals.

Hardeman, a renowned California muralist, painted twenty-five massive panels in the 1960s depicting four centuries of Ventura’s history, including the arrival of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and life during the Rancho Period. Because of their size and fragility, many of these murals are kept in climate-controlled storage and only brought out once a year for this special celebration.
