Simi Valley Police Apprehend Suspect in Amazon Vest After Rooftop Pursuit

Simi Valley law enforcement officials successfully apprehended a local man on Tuesday following a chaotic rooftop pursuit that drew significant attention to a quiet residential neighborhood. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Jaroslav Hriancik Jr., was observed wearing an Amazon delivery vest during the incident.

The situation began around 9 a.m. when local dispatchers received urgent calls from residents regarding a suspicious individual. Witnesses reported seeing a man peering into parked vehicles near the intersection of North Calle La Sombra and East Via Alegre.

Responding officers quickly located a man matching the provided description. The individual was dressed in an Amazon vest, wore latex gloves, and carried a large backpack, which immediately raised concerns among the arriving patrol units.

Upon noticing the police presence, Hriancik fled on foot, initiating a pursuit through the surrounding neighborhood. The suspect eventually climbed onto residential rooftops in the 5800 block of Fearing Street, moving across multiple structures to evade capture.

Police established a secure perimeter around the area to prevent the suspect from escaping further. They deployed a drone to monitor his movements from above, allowing officers to track his location precisely while maintaining a safe distance.

After a brief standoff on a rooftop, Hriancik surrendered to authorities without further incident. A subsequent search of the immediate area confirmed that no residences or vehicles had been burglarized during the suspect's movements.

Hriancik was transported to the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Center for booking. He faces charges related to resisting a police officer, an outstanding felony warrant, and a post-release community supervision hold.

Investigators have not yet determined if the suspect has any legitimate affiliation with Amazon. During the arrest process, Hriancik declined to answer questions regarding his attire or his activities in the neighborhood.
