It is finally time to dive into summer! The Ventura Aquatic Center is kicking off its first Open Swim of the season this Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Families can head over to the Kimball Road facility to enjoy the 25-meter recreation pool, the water play area, and the popular water slides. Since May is National Water Safety Month, the city is also incorporating educational activities into the day to help residents of all ages stay safe in and around the water.
- Registration: Advanced reservations are highly recommended via the city's ActiveNet system. You can register at the official sign-up link here.
- Pricing: Entry is $11 for ages 3 to adult, while children 2 and under are free.
- Location: 901 S. Kimball Rd., Ventura, CA 93004.
It is great to see the city merging recreational fun with critical safety training. In Ventura County, where we have access to pools, lakes, and the ocean, water competency is not just a skill, it is a necessity.
According to the Ventura County Fire Department, two-thirds of childhood drowning fatalities occur between May and August.
Events like this provide a low-pressure environment for kids to get comfortable in the water while parents learn about the "Layers of Protection," such as active supervision and the importance of life jackets. Starting the season with safety in mind ensures that our summer memories stay positive ones.
