A recent DUI checkpoint in Thousand Oaks ended with two people behind bars and several others cited.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department set up the operation on East Hampshire Road on Friday, April 24, 2026, stopping hundreds of cars over a six-hour window.

Out of the 450 drivers contacted, officers pulled 19 people aside for field sobriety tests.

Two men were ultimately arrested for driving under the influence: a 70-year-old local resident from Thousand Oaks and a 57-year-old man from Rancho Palos Verdes.

The latter was also charged with having a blood alcohol level over .08.

On top of the arrests, seven other drivers were cited for license violations.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that these specific locations are chosen based on data showing high frequencies of impaired driving crashes and traffic accidents.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
