A 26-year-old man from Thousand Oaks is currently facing serious legal consequences following allegations of human trafficking involving a 14-year-old boy. Brandon Holguin was taken into custody after a multi-day search conducted by local law enforcement agencies.
Prosecutors allege that the suspect initially targeted the minor at a thrift store several months prior to the abduction. The situation escalated in early May 2025 when the boy was reported missing by his family members.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Holguin transported the victim across various locations in the region. He reportedly confiscated the boy’s personal belongings, including his cell phone and jewelry, to generate cash.
The victim was allegedly forced to work in a motel room, where he was tasked with photographing and sorting used clothing for online resale. To ensure the boy remained productive during late-night hours, the suspect reportedly forced him to ingest Adderall.
Authorities stated that the suspect eventually abandoned the teenager on the side of a Los Angeles freeway during the night. The victim was able to reach safety and contact law enforcement, which triggered an intensive investigation involving scent dogs and community canvassing.
Holguin was arrested on May 9, 2025, and now faces six felony counts. These charges include human trafficking, child stealing, child abuse, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman emphasized that the Labor Justice Unit is committed to holding perpetrators of human exploitation accountable. He noted that the investigation remains active as officials look for potential additional victims.
The defendant has pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him. He is currently being held on a $650,000 bail while awaiting further court proceedings.
A pretrial hearing is scheduled for early June at the Pasadena Courthouse. If convicted on all counts, Holguin faces a potential sentence of up to 14 years in state prison.
This case highlights the ongoing challenges regarding child safety and the exploitation of minors in the digital age. Law enforcement officials continue to urge the public to report any suspicious activity related to this investigation.
