23-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Oxnard Traffic Collision

A tragic accident in Oxnard has claimed the life of a young man from Port Hueneme. 23-year-old Jacob Dildine died on the evening of Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Wooley Road and Industrial Avenue. Dildine was riding his bicycle when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
The car involved was a 2008 Toyota Highlander driven by a 79-year-old Oxnard woman. The impact threw Dildine onto the roadway, causing significant injuries.
Emergency responders rushed Dildine to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed he died from multiple blunt force injuries.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Police have not yet determined if speed or distraction played a role in the crash.
Traffic investigators are currently reviewing the scene and seeking witnesses. They are also checking for any surveillance footage from nearby businesses that may have captured the incident.
Family members and friends of Dildine are mourning the loss of the young man. Legal experts noted that bicyclists remain incredibly vulnerable on urban streets, which account for the vast majority of cycling fatalities.
No arrests have been made as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the Oxnard Police Department.
