THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Forty-two law enforcement recruits celebrated the completion of their intensive academy training during a graduation ceremony at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, district attorney officials announced.

The commencement ceremony marked the formal entry of Class 2026-1 recruits into active duty across various city police departments and county public safety agencies.
Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko attended the event to deliver remarks and present individual honors to top-performing recruits.
Academy Completion and Top Award Recognition
During the ceremony, DA Nasarenko presented the prestigious Outstanding Personal Traits Award to Officer Vanessa Juarez of the Oxnard Police Department. The peer-and-instructor-nominated award recognizes exceptional integrity, leadership, peer support, and dedication throughout the rigorous multi-month training process.
The graduating class will now disperse to their respective law enforcement agencies to begin field training programs across Ventura County.
"Forty-two recruits graduated last week during a ceremony at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, marking the completion of their academy training and the beginning of their careers in law enforcement," the Ventura County District Attorney's Office shared in an official announcement.
"District Attorney Erik Nasarenko was honored to present the Outstanding Personal Traits Award to Oxnard Police Department Officer Vanessa Juarez.
