83-Year-Old Woman Dies One Week After Oxnard Vehicle Collision

The Oxnard Police Department is mourning the loss of a passenger following a broadside collision earlier this month. An 83-year-old female passenger passed away on January 23, 2026, due to injuries sustained in a crash.
The accident originally occurred on the afternoon of January 16 at the intersection of Gonzales Road and Gallatin Place. A 2014 GMC Acadia was traveling eastbound when it struck a 2002 Ford Expedition.
The impact happened as the Ford was attempting to turn onto Gonzales Road. Emergency services responded immediately and transported the passenger and both drivers to the Ventura County Medical Center.
While the drivers were listed in stable condition, the elderly passenger's health declined while in the hospital. The Medical Examiner confirmed that her death was directly related to the trauma of the impact.
Investigators noted that speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the collision. However, they are still working to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash.
Corporal Manny Perez is leading the investigation and is asking any witnesses to come forward. The department is specifically looking for anyone who may have seen the Ford Expedition prior to the turn.
