Families were just trying to catch flights when the world's most dangerous tension turned into fire and glass. This is the moment a shaky peace deal fell apart.

WHAT HAPPENED

Iran launched strikes on U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain on Wednesday morning. This was a revenge attack.

Earlier, the U.S. military used a Hellfire missile to hit an oil tanker near Kharg Island. The tanker was flying the flag of Botswana.

The strike on Kuwait’s main airport was the most violent part. One man from India died in the blast. More than 60 other people are now in the hospital with injuries.

President Trump is reportedly angry with Israel’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel is threatening to hit Beirut even while people try to talk about peace.

WHAT THE EVIDENCE SHOWS

1 Indian national killed at the airport.

  • 60+ people injured in Kuwait.
  • 1 Botswana-flagged tanker hit by a U.S. missile.
  • 2 major U.S. bases targeted by Iran.
  • 3 countries now facing direct fire.

THE BIGGER QUESTION

Why are regular travelers the ones bleeding for a fight over oil and tankers? We should ask if the leaders in Washington and Tehran are actually trying to stop a war.

Are they just waiting for an excuse to start one? It seems like pride is winning over peace.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW

Flights across the region are being canceled. This strike makes it very likely that the U.S. will hit back even harder.

Regular people in Kuwait and Bahrain are now living in a war zone again. This ruins the hope for a long-term peace.

WHAT WE STILL DON'T KNOW

Will the U.S. launch a new attack tonight?

  • Can any world leader get both sides to stop?
  • Will Israel follow through on its threat to hit Beirut?
