A police pursuit ended in a violent crash in Los Angeles’ Green Meadows neighborhood early Wednesday morning, leaving multiple vehicles heavily damaged and ripping the roof off one parked car.
Los Angeles police were pursuing a Toyota Corolla for reckless driving when the suspect apparently lost control while traveling through the 800 block of East Imperial Highway.
The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m., according to the initial report.
Police said the suspect apparently missed a curve and lost control of the vehicle. The Corolla then went airborne before slamming into at least five parked vehicles.
The impact scattered debris across the roadway and caused extensive damage to vehicles in the area.
KTLA reporter Carlos Herrera described the scene as particularly severe, noting that one vehicle had suffered extraordinary damage.
“The top of one vehicle there appears to have been completely sheared off in this collision,” Herrera reported from the scene.
Video from the crash site showed several damaged vehicles and debris spread across the street.
The suspect was taken into custody following the crash.
