Amroha Teenager Dies After Family Follows Tantrik Advice for Snakebite Treatment

A 14-year-old boy has died in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh after his family followed the advice of a local occultist instead of seeking medical treatment for a snakebite. The incident, which has drawn significant attention to the prevalence of superstition in rural areas, concluded tragically on Saturday.

Reports indicate that the teenager was bitten by a venomous snake while at home. Rather than transporting the boy to a nearby hospital for immediate anti-venom treatment, his parents turned to a local tantrik for assistance.

The practitioner allegedly convinced the family that modern medicine would be ineffective against the specific nature of the bite. He suggested a ritual that involved lowering the boy’s body into the Ganga river for a continuous period of twelve hours.

The tantrik claimed the sacred waters would draw the venom out of the boy's system and restore his health. For half a day, the boy remained partially submerged in the river as his family waited for a recovery that never came.

By the time the twelve-hour period concluded, the boy showed no signs of life and was later confirmed deceased. Local authorities were alerted to the situation following the boy's death, and an investigation into the matter is now in progress.
