A fatal stabbing in Los Angeles' Koreatown early Thursday morning left one person dead and another hospitalized, while police launched a search for three suspects who fled the area in a white vehicle.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to reports of a cutting or stabbing at approximately 6:00 a.m. near the intersection of Third Street and Alexandria Avenue. When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from stab or cutting injuries. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim survived and was transported for medical treatment.
WHAT HAPPENED
Authorities said the violent incident unfolded shortly before sunrise in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Sky5 captured an active homicide investigation as detectives worked behind police tape and a coroner's canopy was erected over the location where the deceased victim was found.
According to LAPD, two people were discovered with stab or cutting wounds after officers responded to emergency calls.
“LAPD responded to reports of a cutting or a stabbing at about 6:00 a.m. this morning,” Sky5 reporter Rich Prickett said during live coverage.
Prickett added, “Two people were found that were cut or stabbed. One person died here at the scene.”
Investigators said three male suspects fled immediately after the attack in a white vehicle, described as possibly a Ford or Honda. Detectives are working to determine the suspects' identities, their relationship to the victims, and what prompted the deadly confrontation.
Police established a large crime scene around the intersection while homicide investigators collected evidence and interviewed potential witnesses.
“According to LAPD, three men fled the location in a white, possibly Ford or Honda,” Prickett reported. “They are looking for that vehicle and three people that are connected with the stabbing.”
Officials also confirmed that Third Street and Alexandria Avenue would remain closed while investigators processed the scene.

WHY IT MATTERS
The deadly attack adds to ongoing concerns about violent crime in densely populated areas of Los Angeles, where early morning incidents can place residents, workers, and commuters at risk. Investigators will seek to determine whether the victims and suspects knew one another or whether the violence was a random encounter.
Finding the suspects quickly will be a priority, both to establish a motive and to determine whether there is any continuing threat to the public. Detectives will likely review surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences, examine forensic evidence, and interview witnesses who may have seen the suspects or their vehicle leaving the area.
A skeptical view is that many important details remain unknown, making it too early to draw conclusions about the motive or circumstances surrounding the attack. While police are actively searching for three suspects, investigators have not yet explained what led to the stabbing or confirmed whether the incident was targeted or spontaneous. As with any active homicide investigation, authorities will need to corroborate witness accounts with physical evidence before reaching definitive conclusions.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
LAPD homicide detectives are expected to continue processing the crime scene, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify and locate the three fleeing suspects.
Investigators are also expected to determine the identities of both victims and notify family members before releasing additional information publicly. Anyone with information about the white vehicle or the suspects may be asked to contact investigators or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
WHAT WE STILL DON'T KNOW
- What led to the stabbing and whether the victims knew the suspects.
- The identities of the deceased victim, the surviving victim, and the three suspects.
- Whether the attack was targeted or random.
- What weapon was used during the assault.
- Whether surveillance cameras captured the suspects fleeing the scene.
