FBI Raids Home and Office of LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho

LOS ANGELES, CA, Federal agents executed coordinated search warrants Wednesday morning at the San Pedro home of Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, as well as LAUSD headquarters in downtown Los Angeles and a separate location in Miami tied to the investigation.
The early-morning operation drew immediate attention from neighbors and district employees, many of whom arrived at work unsure whether offices would open as usual. Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the investigation, and an affidavit connected to the warrant remains under seal.
Carvalho, who has led one of the nation’s largest public school systems since 2022, has not been charged with any crime as of this publication.
The Operation: Predawn Federal Presence
Witnesses say federal agents arrived at Carvalho’s San Pedro residence shortly before 6:00 a.m.
- At least six agents were observed outside the property.
- One armed officer in camouflage was seen covering the home.
- Agents wearing FBI-marked jackets entered the residence.
- At least one box was reportedly removed from the house.
A neighbor described the scene as highly unusual, noting that agents used a bullhorn instructing occupants to remain inside during the search.
LAUSD Headquarters Searched
Simultaneously, federal officers were seen entering LAUSD’s administrative headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
- Employees gathered outside appeared confused about building access.
- Law enforcement declined to comment on the purpose of the visit.
- The district later confirmed cooperation with federal authorities.
In a formal statement, LAUSD said:
“We have been informed of law enforcement activity at Los Angeles Unified School District headquarters and at the home of the Superintendent. The District is cooperating with the investigation and we do not have further information at this time.”
Miami Location Included
Law enforcement sources confirmed that investigators are also searching a location in Miami connected to Carvalho.
Before relocating to Los Angeles, Carvalho served as the longtime superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Authorities have not clarified whether the Miami search relates to his prior role or current position.

Officials have not indicated whether those positions are connected to the current investigation.
