Four Moorpark Men Arrested Following Month Long Gun Discharge Investigation

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has successfully closed a cold case involving illegal gunfire, resulting in the arrests of four local men on January 13, 2026. The arrests are the culmination of an intensive investigation into a reckless shooting incident that occurred several months ago. According to detectives from the Moorpark Station, the suspects were identified through forensic evidence and witness statements collected during a late night confrontation in October 2025.
Negligent Shooting from a Vehicle
The original incident involved the negligent discharge of a firearm from a moving vehicle. In October, residents in a residential Moorpark neighborhood reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by the sound of a car speeding away. While no injuries were reported at the time, the act of firing a weapon from a vehicle is considered a serious felony in California due to the high risk of stray bullets hitting occupied homes or bystanders.
Over the following months, the Moorpark Investigations Bureau worked to track down the vehicle involved. The four suspects, all residents of Moorpark, were eventually linked to the crime through a combination of digital evidence and physical shell casings found at the scene. Detectives executed a series of coordinated arrest warrants this Tuesday, taking all four individuals into custody without incident.
Weapons Violations and Legal Consequences
The suspects face a variety of charges including the negligent discharge of a firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime. During the arrests, deputies also recovered evidence related to the original shooting. The Sheriff's Office emphasized that firing weapons within city limits, especially from a vehicle, is an extremely dangerous act that the department pursues with full investigative resources regardless of how much time has passed.
All four men were booked into the Ventura County Pre Trial Detention Facility. Their names have been withheld pending formal charges from the District Attorney’s Office, but they are expected to appear in court later this week. Law enforcement is using this case as a reminder that "celebratory" or reckless gunfire will be met with serious legal consequences, as it poses a significant threat to public safety in densely populated neighborhoods.
