They blamed a dying teen for his own murder. Now they want our sympathy.

After a 23-year-old stabbed Henry Nowak to death with a large blade, his family hid the weapon and lied to police.

Imagine taking your last breaths while police handcuff you because your killer lied about what happened.

In December 2025, 18-year-old Henry Nowak was walking home in Southampton, UK. Vickrum Digwa, 23, attacked him. Digwa stabbed the teen five times with a 21-centimeter sacred blade.

As Henry lay dying, Digwa and his brother claimed Henry used racist words. Police believed them. They handcuffed the dying teen while he gasped that he could not breathe.

The brother lied to the officers. The mother hid the bloody blade. In court, family members even yelled "racist" at the victim's memory. Now, the family has released a statement asking for privacy and sympathy.

What the evidence shows

  • Henry Nowak was stabbed 5 times with a 21-centimeter blade.
  • Vickrum Digwa received a life sentence with a 21-year minimum.
  • Bodycam video shows Henry begging for help while being handcuffed.
  • The killer's mother is accused of hiding the murder weapon.
  • The killer's brother is accused of lying to police at the scene.

The Bigger Question

How did our system fail a dying boy so badly? When police trust a killer over a bleeding victim, something is broken.

We must also ask about the laws that let people carry large blades for religious reasons. Can we keep our streets safe while still respecting faith?

The Other Side

The Digwa family released a public statement asking for privacy and expressing sorrow for the death. Vickrum Digwa claimed in court that he acted in fear.

But the evidence, including bodycam video and the hidden knife, makes this defense appear very weak.

What Happens Now

Vickrum Digwa is starting his life sentence in prison. His family members face their own day in court for their actions.

For regular people, this case sparks a massive debate over how police treat victims and whether knife laws must change.

What We Still Don't Know

  1. Why did the police believe the killer's story so quickly without checking the victim's wounds first?
  2. Will the UK change its laws regarding religious exemptions for carrying large blades?
  3. How will the local neighborhood heal after such a deep betrayal of trust?
