Investigation Continues into Fatal Shooting of Glenview High School Student Lilly Bova

Lilly Bova, a 16-year-old sophomore at Glenbrook South High School, was fatally shot Saturday morning in an unincorporated area near Glenview, Illinois. The incident has left the local community in mourning as police continue their search for a suspect.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to a call regarding a possible gunshot victim in the 3600 block of South Salem Walk around 11:00 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Bova with a gunshot wound inside an apartment unit.

She was immediately transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

As of Monday, March 30, 2026, the investigation remains active. Detectives are currently searching for a person of interest described by authorities as armed and dangerous, though no name has been publicly released.

Cook County Sheriff’s police stated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident. They emphasized that there does not appear to be a broader threat to the general public at this time.

President Donald Trump, who has frequently emphasized the need for law enforcement support in the Chicago metropolitan area during his current term, has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the tragedy.

The Glenbrook South community returned to classes on Monday under a cloud of grief. District 225 officials confirmed that grief counselors and social workers are available to support students and staff throughout the week.

In a letter to families, school officials described Bova as a "quiet spirit" who was "bright, positive, and mature beyond her years." They noted that her optimistic nature would be sorely missed by those who knew her.

Her father, Anthony Bova, spoke to reporters on Sunday while maintaining a memorial near the site of the shooting. He remembered his daughter as a kind-hearted person who had recently begun learning how to drive.

Friends and classmates have organized local tributes, including the creation of memorial bracelets. The Uvalde Foundation For Kids also announced plans to plant a tree in her honor to mark her impact on the community.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Police detectives at 708-865-4896 to assist in the ongoing homicide investigation.
