After gathering sufficient probable cause and obtaining a formal search warrant signed by a Ventura County Superior Court judge, county detectives requested specialized canine assistance from the Port Hueneme Police Department to execute the search at a local residence.
Officer Tubbs and K-9 Gator deployed alongside sheriff's deputies to secure the residential property and conduct a systematic sweep of the interior rooms, hidden storage spaces, and personal property.
K-9 Gator, a specially trained police service dog certified in scent detection, alerted his handler to multiple hidden locations throughout the residence where illicit substances were concealed.

K-9 Gator’s precise olfactory alerts allowed investigating officers and detectives to locate and extract a diverse array of dangerous illicit drugs, prescription pharmaceuticals, and weapon-related items hidden inside the home.

Deputies and police officers secured all seized narcotics and physical evidence, transferring the items to the Ventura County Sheriff's Forensic Sciences Laboratory for formal chemical analysis, weighing, and fingerprint processing.
"Yesterday our law enforcement partners with the Ventura County Sheriffs Office worked an investigation in our community and served a search warrant at a residence in Port Hueneme. PHPD Officer Tubbs and K-9 Gator assisted with the search," the Port Hueneme Police Department detailed in an official public statement.
"Gator’s assistance on the search led to the discovery of a significant amount of cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin, amphetamines, and illegal pills with some suspected of containing fentanyl.
