LA Olympic Chair ‘Deeply Regrets’ Correspondence With Ghislaine Maxwell in Epstein Files

Casey Wasserman, the influential chairman of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics organizing committee, issued a somber public apology on Sunday after his name surfaced in the latest tranche of unsealed Jeffrey Epstein case files. The newly released documents disclosed a series of personal and flirtatious emails exchanged between the high-profile sports executive and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell more than two decades ago.
The correspondence, which primarily dates back to 2003, reportedly includes messages where Wasserman expressed that he missed Maxwell and asked what he had to do to see her in a "tight leather outfit." Further exchanges detailed discussions regarding massages, with Wasserman inquiring about booking a session and Maxwell responding with suggestive remarks about techniques that could "drive a man wild."
In his official statement, Wasserman vehemently denied ever having a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, despite the documented interactions with his associate. He clarified that his only connection to the disgraced financier was a 2002 humanitarian trip to Africa, which he attended as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation aboard Epstein’s private aircraft.
"I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell," Wasserman said in the press release, emphasizing that these communications took place many years before the full extent of her criminal activities was known to the public. He concluded his apology by stating he is "terribly sorry" for having any historical association with either individual, acknowledging the gravity of the abuse they perpetrated.
This revelation is part of a broader release of thousands of documents by the Department of Justice, which has continued to expose the vast social network surrounding Epstein and Maxwell. The files have reignited public scrutiny over the many powerful figures who associated with the pair during the years they were actively trafficking and abusing underage girls.
Wasserman is a central figure in the sports world, heading the Wasserman agency and currently overseeing the multi-billion dollar preparations to host the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles. While the International Olympic Committee has not formally sanctioned him, the emergence of these racy emails has created an unwelcome distraction for the organizing committee as it ramps up planning.
Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021 on five counts related to sex trafficking and is currently serving a 20-year sentence in federal prison for her role in the abuse scheme. The unsealing of these files remains a legal mandate to ensure transparency, providing the public with a clearer picture of the individuals who were in contact with the perpetrators during the early 2000s.
