Lawmakers Investigate Jared Kushner Over Billions in Middle East Investments

Congressional investigators have launched a formal inquiry into the business dealings of Jared Kushner. The probe focuses on his private equity firm, Affinity Partners, and its extensive financial ties to foreign governments.
Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden and House Oversight Ranking Member Robert Garcia are leading the joint effort. They are examining whether Kushner leveraged his previous government role to secure billions in investments.
Kushner, the son-in-law of President Donald Trump, served as a senior advisor and Middle East envoy during the president’s first term. He was a primary architect of United States foreign policy in the Gulf region.
Reports indicate that Kushner’s firm has raised over $5 billion since its inception. The vast majority of these funds reportedly originated from sovereign wealth funds in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.
The investigation was first brought to light by The New York Times on March 19, 2026. Lawmakers are now investigating whether these financial arrangements represent a conflict of interest or a violation of ethics.
Wyden and Garcia have sent formal requests for information to both the White House and Affinity Partners. These letters demand detailed records concerning the timing and scale of the investments from Middle Eastern states.
Investigators are focusing on whether Kushner’s diplomatic work directly enabled his private fundraising success. They are questioning the ethics of former officials profiting from relationships built during their time in public service.
Affinity Partners has consistently maintained that its investment practices are lawful and based on market merits. The firm asserts that its capital was secured through standard private equity channels and rigorous financial vetting.
This inquiry arrives while President Trump is serving his current term in the White House. The administration has not yet issued a formal statement regarding the specific allegations raised by the ranking members.
The investigation remains ongoing as committee staff begin reviewing the requested documentation. Further legislative actions may follow once the initial evidence has been thoroughly analyzed by congressional investigators.
