He thought she came to visit. Police say she stabbed him to death.

2-year-old woman faces murder charges after a Long Island man died in his parents' arms.

A home should be the safest place on earth. But for one Long Island family, a late-night visit turned their house into a crime scene.

Kristen Sculley, 22, snuck into a basement apartment in Massapequa, New York. She went there to meet a 28-year-old man she knew for years.

Instead of a normal visit, police say she stabbed him in his bed. The bleeding man ran up the stairs to find his mother and father.

His parents tried to stop the heavy bleeding in their kitchen. Sadly, their son stopped breathing and died right there in his father's arms.

What the evidence shows

  • Nassau County police charged Kristen Sculley with second-degree murder.
  • The victim was 28 years old and lived in his parents' basement.
  • The suspect and the victim knew each other for several years.
  • Police found signs of drug use, but no actual drugs at the scene.
  • The suspect is set to appear in court today.

The Bigger Question

This tragedy highlights a quiet struggle that many families face. When young people deal with drugs and rocky relationships, parents often try to keep them close to stay safe.

How can families protect their adult children when the danger comes from someone they already trust? This case shows how fast a private crisis can turn into a nightmare.

The Other Side

Kristen Sculley has not yet shared her side of the story or entered a formal plea. Her defense team will likely look at the drug evidence and what led to the fight. Based on the physical evidence, the state has a very strong case.

What Happens Now

The local neighborhood is left in shock after this sudden act of violence. A grieving family must now live with the memory of their son's final moments in their kitchen.

Sculley will face a judge today to hear the charges. The court will decide if she stays in jail while she waits for her trial.

What We Still Don't Know

  • What caused the sudden shift from a normal meeting to a violent attack?
  • Did drug use play a direct role in the stabbing that night?
  • How did the suspect get into the home without anyone else knowing?
