Oak Park Man Charged After Death Threats and Bomb Hoax in Thousand Oaks

A 32 year old man from Oak Park is facing a long list of criminal charges after a terrifying spree of threats that put local residents and law enforcement on high alert. Ventura County prosecutors have officially charged Michael Weisman with nine criminal counts following an incident that involved death threats against his own family and a fake bomb report at a busy local business.
đźš© Violent Threats and a Missing Suspect
The situation began to unfold on December 5 when the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding Weisman. According to investigators he had allegedly threatened to harm himself and others before speeding away in his vehicle before deputies could arrive on the scene. When officers spoke with his family the details became even more alarming.
Weisman’s parents told investigators that he had threatened to kill them along with other innocent people and any deputies who tried to intervene. During this same window of time he reportedly called in a false bomb threat against a business in Thousand Oaks. Because the business was open and full of customers at the time deputies had to act fast to secure the area and instructed everyone inside to shelter in place.
đź›’ Arrest at an Agoura Hills Shopping Center
While Ventura County deputies were managing the scene at the business they reached out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for help locating Weisman near his home. The search ended when LA County deputies spotted him at a shopping center in Agoura Hills. He was taken into custody without further incident and transferred back to Ventura County to be booked into jail.
The nine charges against Weisman include making criminal threats against his parents and law enforcement as well as the felony charge of reporting a false bomb. These types of cases are taken extremely seriously by the District Attorney’s Office because of the massive amount of resources required to respond to a bomb hoax and the trauma caused to the victims.
⚖️ Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Michael Weisman remains in custody as the legal process begins. This case highlights the dangerous intersection of mental health crises and public safety threats that local law enforcement must navigate on a daily basis. The swift coordination between the Ventura and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Departments was credited with bringing the situation to a close before anyone was physically harmed. Residents of Oak Park and Thousand Oaks are breathing a sigh of relief now that the suspect is behind bars and facing the consequences of his actions.
