Oak View Man Sentenced to Six Years for Violent Domestic Attack

A 45-year-old Ventura County man is heading to state prison following a brutal assault on a woman. Christopher Lee Wieser of Oak View was sentenced on January 21, 2026.
The sentencing follows a violent incident that took place on April 14, 2022. Prosecutors say Wieser attacked a woman inside the home they shared.
During the assault, Wieser punched the victim with such force that she lost consciousness. He then began to strangle her.
He also used a piece of broken glass from a picture frame to scratch the woman’s cheek. The violence reportedly continued throughout the night and into the following morning.
The victim was finally able to escape the residence and call for emergency help. Wieser was arrested shortly after by Ventura County sheriff's deputies.
A jury convicted Wieser in September 2025 on multiple felony charges. These included inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant and attempted aggravated mayhem.
Jurors also found several special allegations to be true. They determined that Wieser caused great bodily injury and that the victim was particularly vulnerable.
At the sentencing hearing, Deputy District Attorney Emily Reber praised the victim's bravery. She noted that the woman’s courage to testify was essential in holding Wieser accountable.
Wieser will serve his six-year sentence in the California state prison system. The court also issued a protective order to ensure the victim's safety upon his eventual release.
