✂️ Rescue Crews Use the Jaws of Life
The impact of the crash was so severe that the driver of one vehicle was completely trapped. Firefighters had to use specialized rescue tools to cut through the mangled metal and pull the person out. It took about ten minutes of intense work for the extraction to be successful.
Because the driver’s injuries were so critical a helicopter was called to the scene. The victim was airlifted to a trauma center for emergency treatment. While the exact details of their injuries have not been released officials confirmed the person was in critical condition upon arrival at the hospital.
🚑 Second Driver Transported by Ground
The person in the second vehicle involved in the crash fared slightly better. They were evaluated at the scene and found to be in stable condition. However they still needed medical attention and were transported to a local hospital by a ground ambulance.
The collision caused significant delays on State Route 126 throughout the afternoon as investigators worked to clear the debris and determine the cause of the accident. This busy stretch of highway is often a site of high speed collisions and the Ventura County Fire Department is using this incident to remind everyone to be extra cautious especially during the holiday season.
